you list a zoom, but specify a 50mm?
so if a zoom is ok with the teacher use it, i would think its not as they want to teach you real photography hence film: using the zoom distrorts things whereas 50mm in a SLr is considered standard or close to human eye sight
as for the accesories like uv, strap go get em
check the lens issue first, personally i wouldnt get the Eos but something like a real manual camera like a nikon “F” series or minolta “x” series or a canon AE1 or so
