I need a tuner for my acoustic guitar?
So I am a guitar learner and I think I need a new tuner. I have one already but it only does standard tuning and I am finding that my guitar needs to be tuned down to match my voice. My teacher tuned my guitar a half step down [ from the 1st and 6th strings being E's to them being F's or something like that]. And I am NOT yet advanced enough to tune it by ear.
Anyways I was wondering if the tuner below will do what I need it to and if not, what is another tuner around $20 [or cheaper] that will last and get the job done.

Almost any tuner will do the job. In your case because you want to tune down you need to make sure it is a “chromatic” tuner. It allows you to tune to any note including half steps to sharps and flats. If you get a standard tuner it may just have E,A,D,G, B,E.
If your teacher tuned it UP to F, you can use a Capo (few bucks on ebay), If you are tuning down to D# or D, you need to do that on the strings and that will require the chromatic tuner.

They are cheap on ebay as well and you can score one for a few dollars, but sometimes brand new in the box is good. Most of the really low quality tuners aren’t chromatic, so you’ve got a pretty good chance that any chromatic you get will be decent, Clip-ons might have a slight advantage as it’s easier to tune in a slightly noisier environment.
I advise just getting a chromatic that has the size, display and kind of batteries you like to use, keep it in the case and check the batteries occasionally and you’ll be good for years. On something like this going high price doesn’t always get you “better”
