Review Of The Panasonic EW3153W Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor With Wireless Display
Today we are reviewing Panasonic’s newest home blood pressure monitor: the EW3153W Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Wireless Display. We have always found Pansonic’s BP monitors to be first rate; so, this was a product I was eager to get my hands on.
The most unique thing you will notice about the Panasonic EW3153W is that the cuff and display unit are not connected via a hose or air tube. Rather than using a cord or hose between the two pieces of the monitor, the EW3153W transmits data from the cuff unit to the display wirelessly. Without a tangled cord or tune to contend with, checking your blood pressure has never been easier.
The Pros of the Panasonic EW3153W Blood Pressure Monitor
Wireless Capable BP Monitor
The wireless display makes taking an accurate reading easier than ever before. Data is sent from the main cuff unit to the display unit via an infrared signal. The display unit can be placed anywhere in the vicinity of the cuff unit that is convenient and works flawlessly. The display unit is easily taken to your physician for review and accuracy verification.
Morning Hypertension Detection
The Panasonic EW3153W also detects Morning Hypertension, which many studies have found is a good indicator that a person may be at risk for heart attack or stroke. The monitor also conveniently averages systolic blood pressures in the morning and in the evening, so that you can get a clearer picture of your overall blood pressure health. The EW3153W also offers a very convenient option which allows you to view morning and evening BP averages simultaneously – so that you can always be aware if there are problems with Morning Hypertension.
Dual User Capable
When it comes to BP reading storage, the EW3153W has you covered and can store the last 90 BP readings for two individual users (180 total). If you are looking for value in a blood pressure monitor, this feature can help you save a bundle.
Irregular Heartbeat Detection
The Panasonic EW3153W Blood Pressure Monitor also detects Irregular Heartbeat (or Irregular Pulse as Panasonic calls it). Both heartbeat and pulse anomalies or irregularities could result in arrhythmia related conditions and need to detected and diagnosed as soon as possible.
Other Features of the Panasonic EW3153W
In addition to the above mention features, the EW3153W also has built in movement detection that alerts you if the machine is moved or nudged during a test. Moving the machine during a BP check may cause the results to be unreliable – so, the EW3153W will detect the movement and let you know that you should test again.
Using results that can be displayed in three distinct colors, the EW3153W will quickly inform you if your BP results are in the Hypertension, Pre-Hypertension or Normal range. This Panasonic monitor has the popular one touch operation feature as well as a large, well lit LCD display that is easy to read. The EW3153 comes with a standard AC adapter, and Panasonic is kind enough to throw in 6 alkaline AA batteries as well (that will save you a few extra bucks).
One Thing We Didn’t Like So Much about the Panasonic EW3153W Bllod Pressure Monitor
None really. The EW3153W requires that you will sometimes need to buy AA batteries in order to use the monitor! However, the battery life on the unit seems to be Very Good and tests show that the unit can perform about 3000 reading tests before the batteries need to be replaced. Regardless, it is still an excellent BP monitor, and I highly recommend it.
