what is a hot shoe flash receiver for?
i was looking at some photography stuff and i came upon this can any body explain what its for?
If you have a separate flash unit with electrical connectors on the bottom, you slide this into a hot-shoe (if your camera has one) which also has electrical connections.
When you press the camera shutter, it sends a synchronised pulse through the hot-shoe into the flash unit and it fires.
It’s important the camera’s shutter is fully open when the flash fires, so it’s important to set a slow enough shutter speed (so it’s open longer) to allow the flash to fire after the shutter opens and before the shutter closes (or you’ll get a darker or partially obscured picture .. depending on the type of shutter arrangement the camera uses).
