Should I upgrade my camera or lens?
Here’s what I have:
Sony A230
50 mm f/1.4
kit lens (18-55 f/3.5)
I have around $600 to spend. I use my camera for on-location portrait photography for families and children. Sometimes weddings. I charge a minimal fee and don’t up-charge for prints. I already have all the accessories (External Flash, softbox, backdrop stand, tripod, etc) I’m trying to decide whether to sell my camera and upgrade to a better camera with better low light and more megapixels…Or upgrade my zoom lens? Which would be the most beneficial to my photography?
I think the best thing you can do would be to keep saving. Even if you sell your camera, $600 won’t buy you a decent professional camera.
Also if you are going to be doing weddings, you will need a second camera anyways. The A230 would be a nice backup.
