Rural Nurses Ready To Make It Big
Bob Wilson Memorial in Ulysses is taking its nurses to east for an altogether new experience in nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The medical center has started a program through which the rural hospital nurses will be traveling to the city of Kansas Hospital to work for short durations. Till date, only Ulysses hospital with 35 beds is a part of the program. 12 out of the 26 nurses in the hospital were interested in participating. A 35 year old registered nurse who has spent the last five years in Ulysses is excited about the opportunity. In Kansas City, she usually handled patients with cases of bone marrow, liver and kidney as part of the hematology unit assigned to her. The nurses are brought in by the center’s outreach plane; at also housed at the center itself.
