does anyone know if a metz flash work with the Sony Alpha 100?
Many older Flash Units are dangerous to the circuitry of the Digital Cameras due to high trigger voltages in the flash. Go look for your strobe on this page http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html and see what they say. Many digital cameras are in danger if the trigger voltage is over 6 volts. Some can handle more, but it is all explained on this page and links from this page.
You can get a safety adapter, as mentioned in the previous answer, if your flash voltage is too high.
Your Metz flash (if you own it) may not fit the Sony anyhow. The Minolta hotshoe mount is unique and does not accept standard hotshoe flashes. If the trigger voltage is too high, I bet you won’t even be able to find one of those adapters anyhow… (Although I admit that this is a guess.)
