Using an old Metz Flash with digital?
I have been given an older Metz flash gun and was wondering if I used it with my olympus dslr or my sigma dp2 point and shoot, whether it would cause damage to the cameras?
The flash head is a Metz mecablitz 32ct7 attached to a Metz g15 power grip.the cable that connects to the hot shoe is labeled SCA 364.
any advice would be greatly appreciated!
According to;

that model has a trigger voltage of around 3-5V which is perfectly safe for digital (most don’t like anything above 9V)
The Power Pack won’t affect this – that just provides extra juice to charge up the capacitor – it’s the capacitor discharge that does the damage!
Extras you might want to consider is some radio triggers to get that flash Off Camera too – a set of RF602 triggers cost around £18. On camera flash (unless you bounce it off a large neutral surface) is going to be a hard frontal light. Getting it off camera allows you to position it where YOU want it & to modify it if necessary with a softbox or umbrella.
Good resource for off camera flash;
