Sto-Fen Gold — or — regular white Sto-Fen (Omni-Bounce)?
I am deciding upon buying one or the other. I have absolutely NO examples, however, of the gold when used. So it’s difficult to compare them to decide upon.
Which is more practical? Is the gold only to be used inside?
“Inside” as in, indoors
I prefer white since it is easier to work with in post-production.
Consider this-
There’s a dress with white and cream (matching the light from Sto-Fen Gold) stripes .
In white light this will look as it is but in warm light it might end up looking just one color. In the warm light cream will reflect the full light and white too will reflect the same amount of light and shade and so the stripes will be hidden. No amount of post-production will get the stripes back. However if you don’t like the stripes and want a warm tone, it can be done in post-production. This example which I have given is something which happens very minimally in real world but for a perfectionist it can mean a lot.
On the other hand, warm tones are usually Very Good on white and black skin tones. For Indian, Mongolian skins white light looks better.
