umbrella lighting question – how do you know if a stand can support a certain sized umbrella?

I’m looking at the RPS Studio 1500 Watt 3 Light Photo Flood Kit and it says it supports umbrellas, but doesn’t specify what size. Can it hold any size or will say a 40″ umbrella be to heavy? also, any opinions on this lighting equipment for a beginner just learning how to light in the studio? thanks!

oh, i thought i would add that i would be doing mostly portraits, some animal portraits, and some still life with this equipment.

Before you get this kit, you do know that this is what we call HOT LIGHTS? The are very hot and can cause fires if knocked over. Also they don’t give off as much light as you think. They are great for still life and product photography. For this price you can get the kit from Ritz or Wolf Camera that comes with 2 umbrellas. And most light stand can handle umbrellas with no problem. Save up a little more money and get a flash setup.
