Is Olympus PEN E-PL2 The Successor Of The Well-known PEN E-PL1 ?

If you’re looking for even more options, the MMF-2 Four Thirds System Lens Adapter makes the PEN E-PL2 compatible with all Olympus Zuiko Digital Specific lenses and other Four Thirds System lenses from Sigma, Panasonic and Leica. Olympus OM film-based lenses can be attached to the Olympus E-PL2 with the MF-2 OM Lens Adapter, and third-party adapters have been developed for lenses from most other manufacturers.

Every Olympus PEN camera delivers excellent image quality. To ensure that quality with fast-moving subjects, the Olympus E-PL2 comes with the near-silent M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 II lens (equivalent to 28-84mm for a 35mm camera) that not only focuses faster, but also prevents the whir that can otherwise ruin a good home movie soundtrack.

The E-PL1 was Olympus’s first entry-level Micro System Camera and yet it featured quite an advanced feature set. The Olympus E-PL2 builds on this and though on first glance the differences between the two appear slight, the camera has been refined to give it a classier feel than its predecessor. It features the same 12.3MP Live MOS sensor as we have seen in previous models and the same TruePic V engine. The 324 zone multi metering system also remains, while the sensitivity range has been extended to ISO 6400 from a previous high of ISO 3200.

The powerfully simple PEN E-PL2 is the fourth generation of the actual award-winning and pioneering Olympus PENCIL family of compact interchangeable lens old Digital Cameras. Known for pro High Quality, point-and-shoot simplicity and high-definition video clip, the Olympus PEN E-PL2 persists the PEN family’s musical legacy of simple design, instinctive interface and Digital single Lens Reflex (DSLR) photograph quality.

That being said, JPEG compression is compatible with most editing programs and media players, and the format isn’t overly taxing on your computer (like AVCHD is known to be). The PEN E-PL2 has one HD record mode that captures video at a 1280 × 720 resolution and one standard definition mode that records a 640 × 480 image. All video is recorded with a 30p frame rate, and the camera has a maximum file size limitation of 2GB (a limitation of the AVI format).
