Using Contractor Umbrella Companies Explained In Brief
As an alternative to setting up your own limited company one can use an umbrella company. Basically, an umbrella company serves as a go-between with the contractor and their client (either an employer or an agency), with their main responsibility being to organise the payment for your work.
The major distinction between working via your own limited company and under an umbrella is your employment status. So when choosing a company I would recommend that you get one who looks on each case individually, someone who is always contactable directly (not through a call centre) and, finally, make sure that you comprehend and agree on the terms of payment. Some companies pay weekly, or monthly or as soon as they get their payment. This will all make a difference to your cash flow.
